Painting the Myth, a new installation-based system for interactive biography, allows participants to illustrate the work, histories and stories of artists by painting through the increasingly rich and detailed layers of their best known works.
This unique digital storytelling experience merges form and content into one engaging look at the story behind the canvas, and the artist in each of us.
On first approach, users first encounter a blank canvas on an easel, and a painter’s brush. As the user paints with the brush, a custom video tracking system discreetly placed behind the easel tracks its motion while a rear-projection unit "paints" digital strokes in response. Over time, stroke upon stroke, a layered audio narrative is triggered in harmony with the user's progress through the layers of the painting.
A unique relationship between form and content that lies at the heart of the installation - one that touches and engages users young and old.
